Designing Universal knowledge

Designing Universal knowledge is an interesting book, with a series of articles on subjects related to the ontology of knowledge and information. The book is structured in an encyclopedic style, with all its articles, interviews and essays organized alphabetically, which leads to loose exploration and discovery. Although the selection of some entries might seem a bit arbitrary and subjective, I find the book as a whole very fresh and innovative, and certainly reveals a great research effort by Gerlinde Schuller. Schuller formed most of her initial study for the book around this set of key questions:

• Who is collecting the world’s knowledge?
• How are knowledge archives structured and designed?
• Who determines the access to knowledge?
• What knowledge entails power?
