Project Description:
Stanza is a London based British artist who specializes in net art, multimedia, and electronic sounds. Among many interesting projects in his website, are a few experiments using GPS systems for mapping personal routes on different cities. In VirtualCities Stanza even uses GPS devices to make real estates or virtual cities. As he explains: "These are places that don't exist but we dream of making."

In these images however, Stanza explores GPS systems as a tool for memory mapping in a real world. Both maps trace journeys through Bristol, UK. Stanza clarifies: "GPS can also be used to trace journeys through the urban tapestry. These journeys become a multi-layered thread, an archive of memory of this data."
