Project Description:
CPAN-Explorer is a visualization project aiming at analyzing the relationships between the developers and the packages of the Perl language, known to be organized as the CPAN community (Comprehensive Perl Archive Network). The authors used formated data available from the CPAN Testing Service, but also raw data crawled from the web. Shown here is a network of connections between the extensive Perl online community. Two other maps were also created: (1) Network of dependencies between packages inside the CPAN; (2) Network of relationships between developers inside the CPAN.

These graphs were generated using force-based layout algorithms from the Gephi opensource graph editor.

Comments (2):
The maps have been updated and the authors map (http://cpan-explorer.org/category/authors/) is particularly complete!

Hello - I am a huge fan of your perl community visualization project. I am very curious: How do you determine the geographical location of the nodes in the diagram? Do you have a system for automatically determining where the a message is sent? Any insights into this would be very much appreciated. Thank you.
