Project Description:
The Visual Arts Network of South Africa sent questionnaires to 24 curators and gallery managers, exploring three key issues: which other spaces on the continent they have worked with, where the international artists that they work with come from, and which countries they derive the funding of their work from. This map visualizes their geographic responses and connections, where the triangles represent countries, their size proportional to the number of connections. The map communicates the complex and global networks in which these local art initiatives act, in creative and economic terms.
