Project Description:
This network visualization is a network visualization in a different sense: DeepDream visualizes the inner going-ons of "neural networks", which are a type of machine learning algorithm and model that are high-powered pattern recognizers, emulating the structure of neurons in the human brain. DeepDream visualizes what's happening in the internal workings of a neural network by asking the network to enhance the features it identifies in an given input image. Therefore, if given a cloudy sky, if the neural network "sees" a fish in the sky, it will transform the image to be even more like what the neural network "thinks" a "fish" looks like. These over-interpretations in false-color provide a mysterious look into how these computational devices interpret the inputs they are trained on.
