This chart represents the world's international cable network in 1924. It was compiled from the official data of the International Telegraph Bureau, Berne, Switzerland. One of the things that interests me more about this map, besides the natural appeal for the old visual depiction, is that there are no physical boundaries of either countries or continents. Notice how the physical links (cables) between the major nodes (cities) are represented in such a way that they become the key delineators of the map, "joining" the dots and making the world map naturally appear.
