Project Description:
This diagram visualizes the differences in the composition of ethnic identities by Canada's 13 provinces. In the original census, respondents could indicate multiple ethnic ancestors. In the final visualization, the province is comprised of a chain code formed by the ethnic countries converted into proportionally sized squares, analogously to a genetic code. English, French, Scottish, and Irish ancestors dominate, but in general the ethnic frequencies vary over the provinces.
