Project Description:
Researchers from MIT, AT&T, and IBM analyzed aggregated cellphone traffic from across the United States and found patterns, visualized here. Many calls originate and end in cities, connecting people who have moved from their hometowns to families back home. Communities of pairs of states emerge where they might be unexpected, or states are split due to the influence of nearby larger cities.
